I saw a woman playing this instrument near Odeonsplatz today just before I headed home to cook dinner. She was wonderful and I wanted to sit there and listen to her for an hour. It is called a "Hang." Developed by two Swiss physicists about seven years ago, the instrument is still being developed and improved. Lovely sound.
A couple people playing the instrument on YouTube. Listen and fall asleep...it sounds like raindrops...

Hmmm. Not sure about Bach. ;-) But I always think about all the Bach inventions I used to play when I think about Bach...maybe you're thinking of a particular piece? Maybe the complexity of the melody?
