I think that it can only be here in Germany that one can buy beer at the gym. I have yet to see someone buy one, but they wouldn't bother stocking it if it wasn't being purchased. Maybe it is so unfathomable for me because I only work out in the morning. I guess people who finish their days with sports might drink a beer before going home.

When I worked at Intel in Feldkirchen (east of Munich), we had a beergarden which was famous for the same reason, especially with US colleagues, in that it had beer on offer (in a US company where drinking beer normally would have meant loosing your job on the spot).
While you would not typically see people drink beer in daytime, I guess it has something to do with German / Bavarian law which regards beer as liquid bread or something (When I find out, I'll specify)
hehe...I heard somewhere that the law in Bavaria (Germany?) states that if you go to prison, the state is required to provide you with bread and beer...;-)Of course this may only be a rumor...
